Slate Roofing Technician

About the role
As a Slate Roofing Technician, you'll be on the front lines delivering specialized slate roofing installation, repair, and restoration services to our customers. You'll be responsible for diagnosing roofing issues, completing high-quality slate repairs and installations, fabricating and installing sheet metal components, and ensuring every project is completed safely and to the highest craftsmanship standards. This role is ideal for someone with hands-on slate roofing experience who takes pride in precision work, understands traditional roofing systems, and has experience working with both slate and sheet metal.
Pay
$27–$33/hour, depending on experience. Includes company vehicle and fuel card.
Responsibilities
- Install, repair, and maintain slate roofing systems
- Diagnose roofing issues and determine the appropriate repair or replacement solution
- Install, repair, and fabricate sheet metal components including flashing, valleys, and trim
- Perform high-quality slate repairs while matching existing materials and maintaining roof integrity
- Complete service and repair work in accordance with company standards and best practices
- Document work performed with notes and photos
- Communicate professionally with homeowners, team members, and leadership throughout each project
- Safely operate ladders, tools, and equipment in varying weather conditions
- Pick up and transport materials or supplies as needed
- Support additional roofing service needs during busy periods
Schedule
Full-time. Flexible schedule that may include Saturdays and overtime during peak season.
Requirements
- Valid driver's license
- Slate roofing experience is required
- Experience installing and repairing sheet metal components
- Ability to independently diagnose roofing issues and complete slate roofing repairs and installations
- Comfortable working on ladders and at heights
- Strong craftsmanship, attention to detail, and pride in quality work
- Strong work ethic and reliability
- Customer-focused attitude with strong communication skills
- Ability to lift and carry 75–100 pounds of materials, tools, and equipment
Location & Travel
- Daily start at the Bloomfield, CT office before heading to job sites
- Travel to job sites throughout the area
- Candidates from surrounding areas are welcome as long as they can commute to Bloomfield, CT
