Skilled Nursing Home Cook (Korean Cuisine)

About the role

Olympia Convalescent Hospital is seeking a part-time Cook experienced in Korean cuisine to serve a large Korean resident population. The role involves preparing and serving meals in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as facility policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Prepare meals according to menus and resident dietary requirements
• Work with the Dietitian to meet residents’ nutritional needs
• Handle and prepare food in a sanitary manner
• Ensure meals are palatable, visually appealing, and served on time
• Follow portion control guidelines
• Verify accuracy of special diet trays
• Cook Korean food in large quantities
• Coordinate food service with other departments
• Minimize food waste and properly store food supplies
• Maintain cleanliness of kitchen equipment, work areas, and storage spaces
• Adhere to sanitation, food safety, and facility policies
• Dispose of waste according to facility regulations
• Maintain confidentiality of resident information
• Follow safety regulations and assist during emergency situations as needed

Requirements

• A high school diploma or GED
• Minimum of one year of food service experience in a nursing facility or hospital
• Knowledgeable in food preparation and safety procedures
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
• Ability to move intermittently throughout the day and lift, push, pull, or carry up to 25 pounds
• Ability to read fine print on labels and menus
