About the role
Olympia Convalescent Hospital is seeking a part-time Cook experienced in Korean cuisine to serve a large Korean resident population. The role involves preparing and serving meals in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as facility policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Prepare meals according to menus and resident dietary requirements
- Work with the Dietitian to meet residents’ nutritional needs
- Handle and prepare food in a sanitary manner
- Ensure meals are palatable, visually appealing, and served on time
- Follow portion control guidelines
- Verify accuracy of special diet trays
- Cook Korean food in large quantities
- Coordinate food service with other departments
- Minimize food waste and properly store food supplies
- Maintain cleanliness of kitchen equipment, work areas, and storage spaces
- Adhere to sanitation, food safety, and facility policies
- Dispose of waste according to facility regulations
- Maintain confidentiality of resident information
- Follow safety regulations and assist during emergency situations as needed
Requirements
- A high school diploma or GED
- Minimum of one year of food service experience in a nursing facility or hospital
- Knowledgeable in food preparation and safety procedures
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
- Ability to move intermittently throughout the day and lift, push, pull, or carry up to 25 pounds
- Ability to read fine print on labels and menus
