Skilled Nursing Collections Specialist

What You'll Do

• Review high-dollar, challenged accounts referred by facilities and determine appropriate next steps in the collection process.
• Communicate with responsible parties to resolve outstanding balances prior to attorney referral.
• Identify when Power of Attorney, guardianship, or conservatorship is required to support collection efforts.
• Refer accounts to collection agencies or attorneys as appropriate.
• Resolve denied and underpaid claims in a timely and accurate manner.
• Screens Medicaid Pending applications for New York State facilities to identify potential issues prior to admission.
• Utilize Prime Claims, PointClickCare (PCC), and state/insurance portals to review account status, validate accuracy, and confirm prior collection efforts have been exhausted.
• Use PointClickCare (PCC) to review payments, adjustments, and collection notes, and compile documentation to support referrals and collection activities.
• Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, especially with facility team members, collection attorneys and their paralegals.
• Show detail-oriented and deadline-driven with strong organizational skills, while supporting and mentoring team members.

Qualifications

• 5–7 years of experience in Skilled Nursing collections.
• Familiarity with healthcare billing practices and regulations.
• Proficiency in Point Click Care (PCC), standard office equipment and computer applications.
