About the role

We are seeking full-time Skilled Crew Highway Maintenance Technicians to perform advanced maintenance operations in the Houston, TX area. This position involves a variety of tasks related to highway maintenance, including signs, guardrail, and/or drainage, while adhering to all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, as well as company policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Perform highway maintenance tasks using shovels, weed trimming machinery, brooms, and various small hand tools
• Operate equipment such as wheel loaders, skid steers, forklifts, asphalt rollers, and air compressors
• Install and maintain guardrails and signs
• Perform concrete forming and repair
• Implement traffic control measures (MOT certifications/courses)
• Work safely under varying environmental and weather conditions, including weather events like snow, ice, and floods
• Adhere to safety protocols and use required safety equipment
• Adapt to changing work schedules and use smartphone applications for job-related tasks

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Clean driving record
• Ability to pass criminal background check, MVR, and controlled substance/drug testing
• Knowledge of local driving rules and regulations
• Basic arithmetic skills
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Proficiency in operating hand and power tools
• Ability to work day, mid, or night shifts as needed

Preferred Qualifications

• Roadway maintenance experience
• CDL license
• Experience operating heavy equipment (e.g., wheel loader, skid steer, forklift, asphalt roller)
• Familiarity with air compressor operations
• Construction or roadway maintenance experience
• Guardrail and sign installation experience
• Concrete forming/repair experience
• Traffic control certifications (MOT)
• Bilingual: English/Spanish (read/write)

Pay

The minimum pay rate is $15/hr with no experience required. Higher compensation is available based on candidate experience and certifications.

Schedule

Full-time positions available on day, mid, and night shifts. Normal day shift hours are Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM–4:00 PM. Must be available to work during weather events such as snow, ice, and floods.
