Site Supervisor - LDAR
About the Role
This position manages the operations of a project site's LDAR (Leak Detection and Repair) program. Responsibilities include prioritizing and addressing work assignments, providing leadership and guidance to direct reports, addressing personnel and staffing issues, and preparing operational and regulatory reports. The role ensures compliance with Federal, State, and local fugitive air emission regulations while adhering to AEM's Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Health & Safety Management System.
As the site safety ambassador, you will ensure all work is conducted safely, manage weekly safety meetings, attend client safety meetings, and uphold AEM safety policies. You will also oversee the work, progress, and productivity of AEM personnel assigned to the site.
Responsibilities
- Meet with project site LDAR representatives to align work efforts with program needs and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Oversee the integrity, accuracy, and security of all data maintained in the project's LDAR data management system.
- Generate and distribute Inspection Progress Reports as per site-specific distribution lists.
- Perform daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly QA/QC activities in accordance with AEM's SOP.
- Use the LDAR data management system to ensure compliance with inventorying, monitoring, repair, and reinspection requirements.
- Generate and maintain required reports for customers to measure productivity and ensure schedules are met.
- Rectify operational and quality compliance issues immediately.
- Participate in new hire recruiting and interviewing, and lead new hire onboarding, including initial training.
- Ensure the accuracy and quality of precision calibration procedures for monitoring instruments per EPA Method 21.
- Maintain inventory of company equipment, implement preventative maintenance, and address damaged equipment needing repair.
- Maintain inventory of on-site materials/supplies and order new supplies as needed.
- Investigate potential compliance issues, determine root causes, and resolve them before escalation.
- Review, decipher, and apply LDAR compliance regulations issued by local, State, and Federal agencies.
- Read and interpret Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) and understand mechanical operations of process valves.
- Demonstrate knowledge of refining process equipment (e.g., exchangers, vessels, pumps, compressors) and their operations.
Requirements
- Strong interpersonal (written and verbal) communication skills.
- Highly proficient in various LDAR data management programs and basic software (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, timekeeping systems).
- Strong leadership skills to effectively manage a team with varying competencies, including coaching and mentoring.
- Ability to balance and achieve results in safety, quality, productivity, cost management, and team deployment.
- Ability to cost-effectively manage site expenditures and track resource management.
- Ensure timely completion of inspections to maintain regulatory compliance and meet revenue expectations.
- Ability to investigate compliance issues, determine root causes, and resolve them.
- Ability to apply LDAR compliance regulations from local, State, and Federal agencies.
Physical Requirements
- Outdoor work in petroleum refineries or chemical processing facilities, involving prolonged walking and standing.
- Exposure to adverse weather conditions (extreme heat/cold, inclement weather).
- May require carrying testing devices, data loggers, hand tools, and miscellaneous equipment weighing 15-20 lbs (e.g., in a backpack or tool belt).
- Work involves ascending stairs, climbing vertical ladders, and working from elevated heights, sometimes with personal fall protection equipment.
- All outdoor work is performed while wearing personal protective equipment (PPE), including a hardhat, fire-retardant coveralls, safety glasses, hearing protection, safety boots, and a 5-point safety harness when required.
