Site Security Manager

About the role

DHL Supply Chain is seeking a Security Manager to plan, organize, coordinate and direct contract security employees and security functions at a warehouse/distribution location. The role provides 24‑hour protection of the company, employees, guests and property, influences security regulations across departments, develops emergency procedures, and partners with the Americas Security Team to ensure compliance with corporate policies and regulatory statutes.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, coordinate and direct contract security employees and security functions in the warehouse/distribution location.
• Schedule contract Security Officers to provide 24‑hour protection of company, employees, guests and property.
• Influence, advise and guide all departments regarding security regulations and procedures.
• Develop emergency procedures, respond to incidents, and coordinate with local authorities as needed.
• Administer the site loss‑prevention program, including monitoring building access and security systems.
• Manage the team of contract security personnel and the security vendor relationship.
• Establish, institute and enforce approved security procedures; recommend modifications to security regulations.
• Assist in updating and maintaining security regulations manuals.
• Coordinate security for special functions occurring in the facility.
• Perform administrative duties such as maintaining security budgets, billing, memos, purchase orders, etc.
• Inspect buildings and grounds to ensure protection from intruders, fire hazards, theft and vandalism; ensure compliance with SOPs for access and badge authentication.
• Ensure proper maintenance of physical security equipment (radios, alarms, CCTV, uniforms, etc.) and act as liaison with supply vendors.
• Advise site operations staff on safety, security and quality assurance issues; make recommendations or escalate as appropriate.
• Maintain liaison with local law enforcement and state agencies.
• Serve as subject‑matter expert on site systems related to inventory movement and loss prevention.
• Manage usage of physical security programs and processes, including alarm systems and CCTV.
• Conduct security awareness and training for operational staff.
• Investigate disturbances and alarm activations; take charge of policing during emergencies.
• Develop an in‑house shortage control program, conduct weekly audits of warehouse locations, and provide monthly status reports to the VP‑Corporate Loss Prevention and Security.
• Partner with the Americas Security Team to ensure compliance with corporate policies and regulatory statutes.
• Participate in continuing education and motivate associates to achieve loss‑prevention goals.
• Complete accurate reporting for internal and external investigations.
• Conduct safety, security and procedural incident investigations and audits; coordinate with the Americas Security Team.
• Stay current on investigative and interviewing techniques; maintain positive interaction with law enforcement.
• Respond to and investigate reported or suspected associate dishonesty; conduct interviews with HR and the Americas Security Team as needed.
• Ensure site compliance with customer commercial risk and security requirements; partner with customer representatives for risk and security assessments.
• Ensure Business Continuity Plans/Contingency Plans include risk and security requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field (preferred).
• Three to five years of security, loss prevention, law enforcement, and/or military experience (required).
• One to three years of supervisory experience in a security environment (preferred).
