Site Safety Engineer

Responsibilities

  • Enforce the use of safety equipment/clothing as required by OSHA and company safety regulations.
  • Ensure that team members on the project site are in compliance with the safety requirements of the company.
  • Ensure that appropriate safety records are maintained.
  • Ensure that work areas are maintained in a neat, safe and orderly fashion.
  • Investigate cause of an incident and complete reports as required.
  • Aid Site Manager in administrative counseling to team members and subcontractors who are in non-compliance with safety requirements.
  • Hold safety meetings/jobsite reviews as part of coordination meetings.
  • Conduct daily safety meetings.
  • Conduct orientation and jobsite-specific training.
  • Communicate, implement, and enforce Gray’s safety program on site.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field OR 5+ years of related experience in lieu of a degree.
  • OSHA 30 Hour card.
  • Experience in an industrial construction environment is highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of safety/environmental principles and techniques.
  • Basic computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office suite programs.
  • Ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing.
  • An energetic, self-motivated individual who has a passion for collaboration and professional development.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • Frequent standing, walking, sitting, reaching, talking, and hearing.
  • Regularly climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, or crouching.
  • Frequent lifting and/or moving up to 25 lbs, and occasionally lifting or moving up to 100 lbs.
  • Frequent exposure to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, and outside weather conditions.
  • Occasional exposure to high precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, extreme cold and/or heat, risk of electrical shock, explosives, and vibration.
  • Frequent exposure to noise levels that are generally moderate to loud.
  • Overtime may be required.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Indirectly manages subcontractor safety personnel.
