About the role
We are looking for a talented Site Quality Engineer to join our team specializing in Quality for our Cummins Inc. facility in Fridley, MN.
Responsibilities
- Drive defect-free performance by leading containment and corrective actions for customer issues, ensuring swift resolution and protection of customer satisfaction.
- Ensure compliance with quality standards by supporting and maintaining systems aligned with IATF, customer-specific requirements, APQP, and PPAP to deliver consistent, high-quality products.
- Support product and process excellence by contributing to change management activities and verifying that key performance measures are achieved during ongoing production and VPI initiatives.
- Enable data-driven decision making by analyzing quality and processing data to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities that support business outcomes.
- Promote continuous improvement by partnering with cross-functional teams and applying proven methodologies such as Lean, 7-step problem solving, and IQTM to enhance process capability.
- Contribute to audit readiness and compliance by supporting and leading less complex quality audits to ensure adherence to internal and external standards.
- Serve as a quality subject matter resource by providing guidance and technical support to manufacturing, engineering, and other functional teams.
- Support successful product launches by assisting in Safe Launch and VPI activities to ensure new or updated products meet quality expectations from initial release through stable production.
Requirements
- Deliver customer-focused quality outcomes by building strong relationships, understanding stakeholder needs, and ensuring products and processes consistently meet customer expectations.
- Apply structured quality and manufacturing expertise by utilizing tools such as APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, and industry best practices to drive process improvements and ensure product readiness.
- Leverage data-driven problem solving and statistical analysis to identify root causes, implement robust corrective actions, and prevent recurrence while improving overall process performance.
- Influence cross-functional decisions and manage priorities effectively by communicating clearly, navigating stakeholder perspectives, and balancing scope, schedule, and resources to achieve quality and business objectives.
- Bring 2–5 years of experience in manufacturing, production, or quality-related roles, with a preference for site-level quality experience in regulated or high-reliability environments.
- Utilize digital tools, including Microsoft Copilot or ChatGPT, to analyze data, identify historical trends, and support data-informed decision-making.
- Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) to support documentation, analysis, and communication of quality insights.
- Apply structured problem-solving methodologies, including control plans, 7-step problem solving, and 5-Whys, to effectively drive root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
Qualifications
- College, university, or equivalent degree in Engineering or a related technical or scientific subject or equivalent experience is preferred.
- This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
- Minimal to intermediate level of relevant work experience required.
Pay
Salary range: $67,200 – $100,800. The final salary offer will be determined after considering relevant factors, including a candidate’s qualifications and experience.
