Site Operations Technician

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate, monitor, and troubleshoot facility technology systems including access control, networking hardware, measurement and tracking devices (scales, location sensors, environmental sensors), and operational automation tools.
  • Perform routine audits of site technology to identify degradation, gaps in coverage, or configuration drift and resolve issues proactively.
  • Cook up and oversee technology installations, upgrades, and decommissions in alignment with facility change-management procedures.
  • Maintain current documentation of all site technology assets, configurations, and network diagrams.
  • Serve as the on-site steward for operational data quality, ensuring that data captured from facility systems, sensors, and manual inputs is complete, consistent, and timely.
  • Investigate and resolve data discrepancies in coordination with operations and data engineering teams.
  • Enforce data entry standards and train site staff on proper data capture procedures to minimize errors at the source.
  • Support data validation of workflows and flag anomalies to appropriate stakeholders for remediation.
  • Execute and track preventive maintenance schedules for facility hardware, handheld devices, printers, terminals, and other operational equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair first-level hardware failures; escalate complex issues to vendors or specialist technicians and work issues through resolution.
  • Manage spare parts and consumable inventory to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Conduct regular inspections to ensure equipment is operational, properly calibrated, and compliant with safety standards and applicable state and local regulations.
  • Serve as the primary on-site point of contact for technology and equipment vendors, coordinating service visits, repairs, and installations.
  • Review vendors work orders and validate that completed work meets contracted scope, quality, and safety requirements before sign-off.
  • Track vendor SLAs, escalate chronic performance issues, and provide feedback to procurement and operations leadership.
  • Maintain a current vendor contact directory and service contract log for all site-supported systems.
  • Partner with Facility Operations Management to ensure adherence to standard operating procedures and to drive continuous operational efficiency.
  • Produce regular operational reports and dashboards covering system uptime, equipment maintenance status, data quality metrics, and open incidents, giving leadership clear visibility into site health.
  • Identify trends in operational data that indicate emerging issues and surface process gaps or improvement opportunities with recommended corrective actions.
  • Cook with Site Operations Technicians at other sites to share best practices, align operational and technology processes, and ensure consistency across the network.
  • Work with software teams to provide field feedback on software performance and usability, and assist in the deployment, testing, and rollout of software upgrades across site systems.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of experience in a technical operations, field services, or facilities technology role.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve hardware, network, and software issues independently.
  • Experience with data entry quality control, operational reporting, or similar data stewardship responsibilities.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, open work orders, and vendor interactions simultaneously.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills suitable for cross-functional collaboration.
  • Associate degree or vocational certification in Information Technology, Electronics, Industrial Automation / Controls Technology, or related field (preferred).
  • Experience with IoT devices, building automation systems, or industrial sensor networks (preferred).
  • Background in logistics, warehouse, or distribution center environments (preferred).
  • Able to safely operate powered material handling and lift equipment, such as forklifts, high lifts / aerial work platforms, and pallet jacks; current operator certification a plus.
