About the role
The Site Manager - Mining will oversee all aspects of construction activities on a variety of sites, ensuring adherence to safety protocols, schedules, and budgets.
Responsibilities
- Direct and coordinate on-site discipline superintendents, scheduling, engineering, cost control, material control, commercial management, and administrative staff.
- Supervise and direct construction effort to ensure project sequencing and compliance with design, budget, and schedule requirements.
- Ensure efficient use of materials and equipment, and monitor subcontractor and Burns & McDonnell performance.
- Enforce compliance with project procedures, safety programs, work rules, and client requirements.
- Document violations, notify project management, and recommend/implement corrective actions.
- Provide accurate performance feedback for all project team members.
- Develop and foster client and subcontractor relationships.
- Interface with client representatives, municipal authorities, and other contractors as necessary.
- Coordinate and communicate with the Engineering Manager and Discipline Engineers for project planning and resolution of field engineering issues.
- Collaborate with the project management team to develop and implement Project Execution Plans, project procedures, working documents, site procedures, and project standards.
- Authorize purchase requisitions for field procurements under supervision of the Project Manager.
- Review and approve subcontractor progress payments and Supplier invoices under supervision from the Project Manager.
- Provide technical assistance, interpretation of drawings, and recommendations for construction methods and equipment installation.
- Complete daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports and other necessary documentation.
- Assess future work activities and identify concerns using 3-week look-ahead reports and the overall project schedule.
- Oversee and direct construction progress tracking and forecasting, including Field Progress Measurement Systems, Critical Path Scheduling, and commodity tracking systems.
- Oversee and direct the final construction documentation turnover process to clients, including startup and commissioning teams.
- Supervise and enforce compliance with the project Quality Management System.
- Oversee craft supervision and project staffing as required.
- Manage and direct the daily efforts of the physical construction of the project through coordination of all field activities, subcontractor direction, and code/specification compliance.
- Read, interpret, and understand isometric drawings, structural drawings, P&ID's, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, controls, and instrumentation drawings, specifications, and commercial documents.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree and 17 years construction management experience or craft supervision experience on a similar project required.
- Associate's degree and 19 years construction management experience or craft supervision experience on a similar project required.
- High School Diploma/GED and 21 years construction management experience or craft supervision experience on a similar project required.
- Strong understanding of all construction disciplines.
- Excellent communications and supervisory skills of field construction personnel.
- Able to meet company's driving requirements.
- Computer proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
