About the Role

Gray Construction is looking to add a Site Manager, MEP to their Field Operations Team. This is a field/project-based position with responsibilities spanning MEP coordination, project scheduling, cost management, and on-site construction leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Assist MEP Project Manager in locating and evaluating potential subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers.
  • Assist in developing scopes of work for review and approval of MEP Project Manager.
  • Assist in the development of MEP project schedule within the entire construction schedule.
  • Prepare estimates in areas of MEP self-performed work, and assist in complete project estimate.
  • Assist in coordination/management of all trades throughout build process.
  • Assist in selection of qualified bidders and negotiate final prices.
  • Assist in the preparation of various reports, i.e. cost to complete, monthly billings and status reports.
  • Review all drawings (P&IDs, Mechanical, Electrical, Shop, Architectural, Structural, etc.) when issued to the field and coordinate/maintain a current set at all times.
  • Assist in pricing work, draft changes and change orders to be reviewed by MEP Project Manager.
  • Assist in ensuring customer satisfaction with the project.
  • Coordinate and manage on-site construction activities from pre-start-up to completion.
  • Schedule work, including subcontractors.
  • Assist in the productivity and quantity tracking of the subcontractors’ installed work.
  • Determine materials, equipment, and tools needed; secure appropriate supply sources.
  • Set up and close out construction site.
  • Serve as on-site Safety Officer when one is not specifically assigned to the project; participate in the company’s safety portion of the QMS program.
  • Responsible for procurement of tools and materials to be delivered at specified times to conform to work schedules.
  • Confer with and direct supervisory personnel and subcontractors engaged in planning and executing work procedures, interpreting specifications, and coordinating various phases of construction to prevent delays.
  • Consult with supervisory personnel to resolve complaints and grievances within the workforce.
  • Prepare or review reports on progress, materials used, costs, and adjust work schedules as indicated by reports and/or direction from MEP Project Manager.
  • Establish and maintain high safety and quality standards in accordance with company, industry standards, and job specifications.
  • Ensure the company QMS program is used and maintained in accordance with company standards; generate reports and traceability for continuous improvement.
  • Responsible for the communication, implementation, and enforcement of Gray’s safety program on site.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school AND a minimum of ten (10) years of construction experience OR a minimum 15 years related construction experience with increasing responsibility in lieu of a degree.
  • Experience within the light/heavy industrial sector highly desired.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings, financial reports, and legal/contract documents.
  • Strong people management skills.
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), tablets, and smartphones; MS Project and other scheduling software a plus.
  • Strong work ethic; energetic, self-motivated individual who enjoys a team environment and has a passion for collaboration and professional development.
  • Ability to work independently and manage without direct supervision.
  • This position requires travel as projects are scattered throughout the United States and occasionally outside the U.S. The selected candidate can live anywhere in the USA but must travel to project sites per Gray’s travel policy.
  • Visa sponsorship is not available for this role.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands and arms, reach, talk, or hear.
  • Regularly required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
  • Must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 lbs, and occasionally lift or move up to 100 lbs.
  • Specific vision abilities include accurate near and distant vision.
  • Frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, and outside weather conditions.
  • Occasionally exposed to high precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, extreme cold and/or heat, risk of electrical shock, explosives, and vibration.
  • Noise level is generally moderate to loud.
  • Overtime may be required.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • May lead multiple subordinate supervisors and other support staff.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws, including interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining team members; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Takes ownership of training newer team members.

Pay

The wage range for this role is $100K to $150K. This range takes into account a wide range of factors including skill sets, experience, training, certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for geographic differentials. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range, and compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case.
