About the Role
The Site Manager is responsible for leading day-to-day operations across the main plant and several satellite locations, including small gas generation plants, a hydrogen trans-fill operation, and multiple driver outpost locations throughout New England and New York. This 24/7 operation supports more than 500 customers and requires close coordination across commercial drivers, plant operators, vehicle mechanics, technical staff, logistics, and production support teams. As a key member of the management team, the Site Manager provides direct leadership for three direct reports and oversees teams of Operators, Drivers, and Vehicle Mechanics.
Responsibilities
- Lead safety performance by actively engaging employees in all aspects of Basic Safety Processes and ensuring safety remains the top priority across all operations.
- Provide Safety, Health, and Environmental training to employees and ensure compliance with company, state, and federal standards.
- Support all aspects of day-to-day plant and distribution operations, including identifying operational issues, developing solutions, and implementing corrective actions.
- Oversee the site Management of Change process, including the development, documentation, and implementation of procedures.
- Respond to and support plant and distribution issues on a 24/7 basis as needed.
- Plan, organize, and deliver safe, reliable operational results within budget limitations.
- Identify maintenance concerns and partner with the regional maintenance team to develop and implement corrective and preventative measures.
- Drive productivity improvements and continuous improvement initiatives across each business unit.
- Coach, train, counsel, and develop employees to support performance, compliance, and career growth.
- Interface with Air Products professionals, internal support teams, and regulatory officials as needed.
Requirements
- High school diploma with 7+ years of plant or operations experience required; bachelor’s degree in Engineering preferred with 4+ years of supervisory experience.
- Experience in process plant operations and/or maintenance required.
- Distribution operations and/or maintenance knowledge preferred.
- Strong leadership competencies with a hands-on, can-do attitude and a demonstrated drive for continuous improvement.
- Demonstrated commitment to Environmental, Health, and Safety programs and compliance.
- Strong commitment to teamwork, employee development, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Ability to build effective relationships with multiple support groups; experience working in a matrix organization preferred.
- Ability to manage multiple reporting programs, priorities, and initiatives in a fast-paced operational environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication, organizational, coaching, and teaching skills required.
- Proficiency with PC applications required; SAP experience preferred.
