(Site-Level Controls) Software Engineer

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop site-level control software for energy storage systems.
• Build applications that manage multiple Powerwalls operating within a single installation.
• Develop software that sends commands to and communicates with Electronic Control Units (ECUs).
• Implement reliable communication between devices and cloud services.
• Build robust software capable of operating in environments where reliability is critical.
• Collaborate with firmware, embedded, cloud, and systems engineering teams.
• Troubleshoot system behavior across software and hardware interfaces.
• Participate in software design, implementation, testing, code reviews, and debugging.
• Improve system performance, scalability, and maintainability.
• Ensure high software quality through thorough testing and validation.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Strong programming skills in at least one application-level language such as: Python, Java, C#.
• Solid understanding of software engineering principles, object-oriented programming, and debugging.
• Familiarity with networking fundamentals and communication protocols.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

Preferred Experience

• Experience developing device-connected software, including: IoT applications, software running on or interacting closely with hardware devices, systems where software communicates with cloud services and mobile applications, device management platforms, distributed systems involving physical devices.
• Experience in embedded-adjacent environments is highly valued, even if the role itself is not firmware development. Examples Include Smart home devices, Energy systems, Industrial automation, Connected appliances, Automotive connected systems, Medical devices, Networking equipment.
