About the role

The Digital Practice and Technology Team is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Site Land Surveyor Crew Chief for immediate employment in the Newark, DE office.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for operation and care of all survey instruments including Total Station, level, and GPS.
  • Will be responsible for performing property surveys, topographic survey and mapping, construction stakeout and other survey projects for private, government and commercial clients.
  • Read and understand survey notes, sketches, maps, deeds, as-builts, construction plans and drawings and records.
  • Use appropriate survey equipment, conventional, GPS/GNSS and laser scanning, to efficiently and accurately perform a wide range of field survey procedures.
  • Take survey field notes, sketches, and other written records on a daily basis.
  • Perform QA/QC to verify that the data complies with the project requirements.
  • Performs basic maintenance of the survey field equipment and understand its operation.
  • Keep survey field vehicle in good condition.
  • Understand and follow all applicable safety procedures.
  • Travel up to 70% for up to 3 - 10 days at a time.

Requirements

  • Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's Degree plus 4 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Valid Driver’s License required to regularly drive AECOM vehicles to project sites, and as a condition of employment must pass AECOM's Motor Vehicle Records Review.

Qualifications

  • Familiarity and download procedures – raw data processing
  • AutoCAD Civil3D and/or MicroStation platforms
  • Excel/Word Software
  • Railroad knowledge or experience a plus
  • Experience with Federal and government clients a plus
  • Willingness to travel extensively to multiple project sites from 3-10 days at a time.
  • Up to 70% travel with a varied work load
  • 4 years of site surveying with railroad and/or DOT knowledge or experience a plus
  • Experience supervising site survey teams
