About the role

The Data Center Engineer assists in maintaining the safe operation of electrical and mechanical systems across all data centers. This role supports the authorization and oversight of electrical works, ensuring compliance with Electrical Safety Rules and company standards. The engineer collaborates with staff to provide technical guidance, participate in safety permitting, and uphold operational safety. They are involved in audits, training, and cross-functional teamwork to maintain high safety and compliance standards.

Responsibilities

• Support the safe execution of electrical and mechanical work within data centers under the guidance of engineers.
• Administer and monitor safe systems of work, ensuring compliance with established safety rules and procedures.
• Assist in the training and assessment of staff and contractors.
• Participate in audits and contribute to the continuous improvement of safety practices.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to address operational challenges, resolve issues, and maintain a safe working environment.
• Demonstrate a commitment to company values, including customer focus, teamwork, and results-driven performance.
• Interpret and apply complex safety regulations to ensure all work is performed to the highest standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (preferably BEng or BSc Hons), ideally electrical.
• Recognised craft Apprenticeship or training scheme in electrical engineering.
• AE training course completed.
• AP (Authorised Person) training attended, with experience as HV or LV AP.
• 2-4 years of experience in Building Services, Electrical, or Data Center industry.
• Strong understanding of electrical safety and switching in critical environments.
• Experience in oversight, assessment, and training, including audits and competence vetting of contractors.
