Site Based Security Officer

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Conduct foot patrols (monitor) inside and outside assigned schools.
• Preserve the peace, protect District property, prevent criminal acts, apprehend violators, enforce District policies, enforce the Student Handbook, and adhere to the Security Department’s Operations Manual.
• Work any shift as assigned with the understanding that the Security Department has a 24-hour responsibility to protect the students, staff, equipment, and facilities of the Kansas City, Missouri School District.
• Communicate verbally, in body language, and in writing. Reports must be clear, concise, and complete with minimal spelling and grammar errors.
• Maintain and clean department-issued equipment.
• Answer calls for service routed from the dispatcher communication center via district-issued cell phones, hand-held radios, mobile base station radios, and other modes of communication.
• Initiate contact with and maintain a good working relationship with other law enforcement agencies and security organizations during their job performance.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Sit, stand and walk for long periods.
• Speak, hear, use hands, and fingers, reach with hands and fingers, bend, and stoop.
• Walk & run up and down stairs and engage in physical confrontations in all types of climatic conditions during the day or night.
• Lift to 50 lbs.
• Hear.
• Correctable to 20/20 vision.
• Drive a motor vehicle for long periods during the daytime and nighttime and in all types of weather conditions.
• Pass the pre-employment physical abilities test.
