About the role
Marmon Industrial Energy and Infrastructure is a part of the global industrial organization Marmon Holdings, backed by Berkshire Hathaway. As a Singles Machine Operator, you will be responsible for setting up and running the extruder to produce the correct type of product, maintaining all Marmon IEI standards and requirements, and promoting a team atmosphere.
Responsibilities
- Strive to achieve continuous improvement in all activities, processes, and projects
- Use work order packets to determine what product to run
- Pull correct materials to the line as needed
- Set up singles extruder properly, including determining the use of the flyer or single reel payoff, selecting the proper screw and tooling, and entering the correct heat profile
- Run extruder to produce correct type of product, maintaining all Dekoron standards and requirements
- Maintain all paperwork neatly and accurately
- Report product or machine issues to supervisor on duty
- Help maintain inventory of tooling and report needs or issues to supervisor on duty
- Work closely with the Quality Assurance department to ensure product meets required specifications
- Keep work area clean and organized
- Recommend process improvements
- Work as a team with other Singles Operators and Dekoron employees
- Promote safety in all processes and activities
- Assist with training of new employees and cross-training of current employees
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent required
- Technical training preferred
- Experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting with responsibilities in the area of extrusion preferred, but not required

- Monitoring - watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to ensure machine is working properly
- Equipment selection - determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job
- Control Precision - adjusting controls of the machine to exact positions
- Communication - understanding and following written and oral instructions
- Problem-solving, prioritizing activities, and allocating resources
- Ability to make quick, decisive decisions concerning product and machine adjustments
- Ability to communicate with supervisors, peers, or subordinates by telephone, in written form, email, or in person

- Manual dexterity - ability to quickly move hands, hands together with arm, or two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects

- Spend time using hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls
- Spend time standing, as well as sitting, bending, squatting, and reaching
- Use hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials, and manipulating things
- Wear common protective and safety equipment
- Spend time making repetitive motions
- Lifting of at least 60 pounds
