About the role

We are looking for a highly motivated and skilled Optometric Assistant to join our team. You will play a key role in providing excellent patient care and supporting the daily operations of our optometric practice.

Responsibilities

• Assist the optometrist with patient examinations, including preliminary testing and patient preparation.
• Perform diagnostic tests such as visual field analysis, retinal imaging, and auto-refraction.
• Fit and dispense eyeglasses and contact lenses, including educating patients on proper use and care.
• Provide exceptional customer service, answering patient questions and resolving concerns.
• Manage patient records and schedule appointments using our practice management software.
• Maintain optical inventory, including ordering, receiving, and pricing frames and lenses.
• Assist with frame styling and selection to help patients choose eyewear that meets their needs and preferences.
• Perform routine maintenance and sterilization of instruments and equipment.
• Support front-desk operations, including checking patients in and out, collecting payments, and verifying insurance eligibility.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2+ years of experience in an optometric or medical office setting.
• Certified Paraoptometric (CPO) or willingness to become certified.
• Proficiency with EHR/EMR systems.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.

Pay

$18.00 - $24.00 per hour, based on experience.

Schedule

Full-time, Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM with occasional Saturdays.
