About the role
At the Teaching Center of the Medical University of Vienna, this position combines the roles of a simulation patient and a co-trainer for role-playing and feedback training sessions. As a simulation patient, you will portray real patients with their medical and personal histories in teaching and examinations for the communication curriculum of the Medical Curriculum Vienna. As a co-trainer, you will assist in training preparation and execution, fully represent the SP trainer in case of illness, conduct on-site coaching sessions, and participate in all training-related meetings.
Responsibilities
- Authentically portray assigned medical conditions and patient characteristics while strictly adhering to provided medical and character details.
- Provide precise, professional feedback to students.
- Assist in the preparation and execution of training sessions.
- Fully represent the SP trainer in case of absence due to illness.
- Conduct assigned on-site coaching sessions independently.
- Participate in all training-related meetings and preparation sessions.
- Prepare roles and costumes independently before training sessions.
- Work within predefined training and examination settings, following didactic concepts and role-training guidelines.
- Collaborate with trainers, actors, students, educators, and the organizational team.
- Participate in online training, teaching, and distance-learning programs.
Requirements
- Age approximately between 35 and 60 years.
- Completed acting education with a state-recognized certification.
- Residence in Vienna from January to June 2027 and October to November 2027.
- Flexible availability during the specified months, excluding Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays.
- Mandatory attendance at all scheduled training and preparation sessions.
- Experience as a simulation patient, preferably at the Medical University of Vienna.
- Training certification and experience in coaching simulation patients.
- Fluent in English (negotiation-level proficiency).
- High willingness and ability to train within a clearly defined setting, including independent role and costume preparation.
- High willingness and ability to work within predefined teaching and examination settings.
- Interest in collaborating with trainers, actors, students, educators, and the organizational team.
- Experience with online video conferencing and willingness to participate in online training and teaching.
- Daily email availability (at least once per day).
- Good PC skills (Excel, email, Moodle, online platforms).
- Excellent communication skills and German at native-speaker level.
- High resilience, reliability, and strong teamwork abilities.
Schedule
- Employment period: January 4, 2027 – June 30, 2027, and October 1, 2027 – November 30, 2027.
- Total hours: 225 hours from January to June 2027, and 20 hours from October to November 2027.
- Monthly hours vary; monthly duty schedules will be provided.
- Mandatory availability between January 8 and January 15, 2027, is a prerequisite for application.
Pay
- January – June 2027: €1,456.81 gross per month.
- October 2027: €350.00 gross per month.
- November 2027: €650.00 gross per month.
