Simulated Patient
General Summary
Simulated Patients (SPs) are integral partners in the delivery of simulation-based education (SBE), reporting to the Operations Coordinator for administrative and logistical oversight. They receive critical functional feedback and guidance from SP Mentors (SPMs) and the simulation education team. Leveraging specialized expertise in realistic case portrayal, accurate learner assessment, and targeted feedback, they create an immersive and effective learning environment, directly enhancing educational outcomes for all learners during simulation activities.
Essential Job Functions
- Realistic Character Portrayal: Accurately memorize and consistently portray assigned roles, including scripted case information, physical findings, and emotional states, as directed by training and scenario requirements.
- Dynamic Simulation Engagement: Respond dynamically in real-time to learner interactions and scenario progression, applying feedback and direction from SPMs and the simulation education team to enhance realism and consistency.
- Learner Performance Assessment: Accurately assess learners' performance by completing standardized checklists, forms, or other evaluation tools as required for the scenario.
- Objective Feedback Delivery: Deliver effective, constructive, and objective feedback to learners, focusing on their performance within the simulation activity based on observable behaviors.
- Required Training & Skill Development: Actively participate in all required training sessions to refine portrayal skills and enhance feedback delivery techniques.
- Operational Support: Provide operational assistance as directed, including resetting rooms and helping with closing down rooms according to established protocols.
Education
Required: High School Diploma or GED
Experience
Required: Less than 1 year
