About the role
The Signal Systems Instructor manages and creates signal training programs for transit agencies and railroads per specific contract requirements. This individual has experience as a signal engineer, maintainer, or similar background and is able to create signal training materials and deliver the training on site to clients as needed.
Responsibilities
- Create training material based on contract requirements
- Review and understand each signal system to create accurate training material
- Conduct training classes, seminars, and conferences for clients
- Work closely with the Training Delivery team to support the training administration process and follow established processes and procedures
- Identify new business opportunities with current and future clients
- Maintain and expand knowledge of railroad or railroad adjacent rules and regulations
- Attend meetings and/or events to support the Training and Media Services team
- Contribute to a positive, inclusive, and respectful workplace culture, free from behaviors that undermine morale, productivity, or organizational values
- Uphold the organization’s standards of integrity, accountability, and respect in all duties and interactions
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and applicable laws and regulations
- Perform other duties as assigned to meet business needs
Qualifications
- Strong presentation skills (in-person as well as virtual), verbal and written communication skills
- Effective people leader, able to task switch, prioritize and inspire a team
- Able to work with multiple partners in building consensus and relationships while managing the prioritization of competing requests in a deadline-driven environment
- Able to satisfy internal and external customer expectations and develop customer partnerships
- Able to apply logical thought processes and organize resources in order to solve issues and meet commitments
- Proficiency with electronic communications including e-mail and text as well as standard office applications (i.e., Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word)
Required Education And Experience
- High school Diploma or GED
- 5+ years of direct freight or passenger railroad experience, or another rail adjacent agency (i.e., FRA)
- Demonstrated ability to serve as a highly effective instructor for adult learners
- Proficient with transportation, engineering and/or mechanical based operating and safety rules, and the practical application in the field
Additional Qualifications, Certifications, Etc.
- 10+ years of railroad signal experience
