About the role
The Sign Language Interpreter will provide essential support to students with hearing impairments in the Special Education Department.
Responsibilities
- Interpreting spoken language into sign language and vice versa for students during classroom instruction and meetings.
- Ensuring clear communication between students and teachers, facilitating understanding and participation.
- Assisting with daily activities such as note-taking, answering questions, and providing necessary accommodations.
Requirements
- Valid certification as a Certified Deaf Interpreter (CDI) or equivalent.
- Experience working with individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing.
- Knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL).
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field preferred.
- Experience in educational settings preferred.
