About the role
The Sign Language Interpreter provides high quality professional American Sign Language interpreting through video and/or on-site at various customer locations when needed. The role is supervised by the Communication Center Manager.
Responsibilities
- Provide effective video relay service, video remote interpreting and onsite interpreting for consumers
- Support and model the company's mission and values
- Provide excellent customer service while maintaining a respectful and professional attitude with customers and colleagues
- Exhibit professional behavior at all times including punctuality and preparedness for shifts, respectful and collaborative interaction with colleagues and supervisors, and timely and accurate record keeping
- Adhere to all policies and procedures as outlined by the company and all FCC regulations
- Demonstrate the ability to adapt quickly to new and changing technologies
- Multi task between interpreting effectively while utilizing video based technology
- Participate in company-sponsored training for Professional Development
- Exhibit the ability to meet performance expectations with minimum supervision
- Possess the ability to work effectively in a fast paced, dynamic environment
- Exhibit strong interpersonal skills in all settings
- Ability to independently travel. Where driving is required for onsite work, access to a vehicle, valid driver's license and required insurance is necessary
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Must be able to work a minimum of 24 hours per week
- Must be able to work between the hours of 9p to 5a PST each week
- Must be able to accept new or alternative interpreting assignments for a scheduled shift based on customer demand
- Must have a secure, lockable room in your primary residence or on your personal property
- Must pass company's interpreting skills assessment for English/ASL and Spanish/ASL interpreting skills assessment
- Must attend and successfully complete a 40 hour New Hire Training
- Must be willing to allow for the ability of remote monitoring and oversight of the At Home environment and both ends of a call (video and audio)
Qualifications
- One (1) year of professional interpreting experience
- One (1) year Video Relay Service interpreting experience in a call center environment, preferred
- Must have a valid and current NAD IV/V, BEI - Advanced or Master or RID certification
- Possess fluent ASL and spoken English language skills and spoken Spanish language skills
- Able to provide accurate interpretation
- Possess a good understanding of Deaf culture
- Thorough knowledge of and adherence to the NAD-RID Code of Professional Conduct

Pay
$15.74-$65 (based on location, education, certifications, and interpreter specialties)
Schedule
