Siding Crew Lead / Exterior Reconstruction Carpenter

What You Will Do

  • Lead a two- to three-person crew on residential and commercial siding and exterior restoration projects.
  • Review scopes, measurements, plans, material lists, and manufacturer instructions before work begins; confirm access, protection, materials, and job readiness.
  • Lay out and install siding systems, including tear-off, housewrap, insulation, starter, corners, channels, flashing, penetrations, trim, and finish details.
  • Bend and install aluminum trim and complete soffit, fascia, flashing, window, door, sheathing, and related exterior carpentry work.
  • Plan the safe use of ladders, pump jacks, stages, scaffolds, and fall-protection equipment.
  • Complete required inspections when trained, qualified, authorized, and designated as the competent person.
  • Assign daily work, train crew members, correct unsafe or poor-quality work, and keep production moving without sacrificing the property or finished result.
  • Record labor, photos, progress, material use, delays, damage, and scope changes in the company's job system each day.
  • Cookordination with the Reconstruction Manager and Project Managers on sequencing, customer access, material needs, supplements, and work that is ready for invoicing.
  • Protect customer property, maintain a clean site, secure materials and equipment, and complete a final quality review before the crew leaves.

What We Are Looking For

  • Demonstrated ability to lay out and complete siding projects independently, with prior crew-lead or working foreman experience.
  • Hands-on skill with siding, aluminum bending, soffit, fascia, flashing, housewrap, exterior trim, and common exterior repairs.
  • Working knowledge of ladders, pump-jack systems, scaffolds, and fall protection.
  • Competent-person training is preferred; required company training must be completed before performing that role.
  • The judgment to identify unsafe conditions, stop work, solve field problems, and escalate scope or customer issues promptly.
  • Able to read scopes and measurements, plan labor and materials, and use a smartphone or tablet for photos, timekeeping, and daily documentation.
  • Valid driver's license and a driving record that meets company insurance requirements.
  • Reliable attendance, direct communication, and the ability to lead without standing back from the work.

Physical and Work Conditions

  • Regularly lift and carry up to 50 pounds and move heavier or longer materials with team assistance or proper equipment.
  • Stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, climb, reach, and work from ladders, pump jacks, stages, scaffolds, roofs, and other elevated areas for extended periods.
  • Work outdoors in heat, cold, wind, sun, and other changing conditions and in active restoration environments that may be dusty, dirty, wet, or damaged.
  • Wear and properly use required PPE and fall-protection equipment.

Success Looks Like

  • The crew starts each day with ready work, the correct materials, and a clear production plan.
  • Siding and exterior work passes inspection with minimal punch-list, rework, or warranty calls.
  • Safety rules are enforced, equipment is inspected, and hazards are corrected before work continues.
  • Photos, time, progress notes, material needs, and scope changes are documented the same day.
  • When siding slows, the crew moves to scheduled job-coded work instead of waiting for direction.
  • Projects move to completion and invoicing without preventable field delays.
