Description ROLE DESCRIPTION Shuttle Driver / Campus-Facility Support Role Summary This role is primarily a Shuttle Driver position at Valor Christian High School during all school days for both pick-up and drop-off. The driver is responsible for safely transporting students on established routes while following all traffic laws and school transportation policies. This role includes conducting vehicle inspections, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring a safe, orderly, and respectful environment for passengers. The driver represents the school positively, communicates effectively with students, families, and staff, and responds calmly to emergencies or unexpected situations. Additional responsibilities include keeping fleet vehicles clean and fueled, reporting mechanical or safety concerns, supporting maintenance needs, tracking route and ridership information, and administering basic first aid when necessary. Additional duties when school is not in session will vary around campus support primarily intended to increase the Facility Department's ability to support work order requests, routine maintenance, campus support and preparation, and improvement projects. The employee should be able to work independently on basic assigned tasks while also serving as a helper to the Facility Manager and Facility Technicians on more involved projects. Responsibilities Possess and Model a Growing Relationship with Christ Pursue full devotion to Christ and live a life that reflects that authenticity Model the fruits of the spirit in communications, relationships and daily work Demonstrate teachability and a willing heart for service Embody others-centered, servant-leadership in all interactions Demonstrate Trustworthy Commitment to Valor’s Christian Community Accept and uphold Valor’s values and beliefs as found in the Statement of Beliefs , Christian Community Policy , and Valor Culture Document Accept and abide by all affirmations in Valor’s Annual Statement of Commitment Be relationally involved in the life/lives of our students with a heart of service and mission Seamlessly and deliberately integrate Biblical truth and Christian values into daily work Primary Responsibilities (Shuttle Driver-Full Time when School is in session) Shuttle drive all morning and afternoon shifts while school is in session Safely operate Valor Christian shuttles on established daily (am/pm) routes Follow all federal, state, and local traffic laws and school transportation policies Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections, complete required logs, and report any issues to the Fleet Manager Ensure all safety policies are adhered to as described in the Valor Driver & Vehicle Usage Policy & Driving Without Distraction Guidance and/or any other Shuttle Driver policies Ensure students follow safety rules; report incidents promptly and appropriately Maintain an orderly, respectful environment on the shuttle Represent Valor Christian positively to students, families, and the community Use effective communication and calm judgment in emergencies or unexpected situations Keep vehicles clean, fueled, and ready for service Report mechanical issues, needed repairs, or safety concerns immediately Support scheduled maintenance and inspections as required Maintain accurate route records, mileage, and student ridership counts when assigned Communicate clearly with the Fleet Manager or school administrators regarding delays, route conditions, or student concerns Administer basic first aid if necessary Ensure that all carry-on items are properly handled to minimize the danger to all others Secondary Responsibilities (Campus-Facility Support, Non-Shuttle driving days/Non-School Days/In-Service Days/School Breaks/Summer Break) Provide daily hands-on support to the Facility Manager and Facility Technicians with routine maintenance, minor repairs, preventive maintenance, inspections, and general campus facility needs Assist technicians by preparing work areas, gathering and transporting tools and materials, moving equipment, providing basic project assistance, and cleaning and organizing work, storage and inventory areas Perform routine facility maintenance and repairs, including replacing bulbs, filters, and ceiling tiles; patching and painting; furniture repairs; preventive maintenance; and identifying and reporting facility, safety, or maintenance concerns Support campus operations and special projects by completing work orders, preparing and maintaining classrooms and offices, moving and assembling furniture and equipment, assisting with inspections, deliveries, contractors, and grounds projects, and preparing the campus for each upcoming school year Maintain organized facility shops, storage rooms, tools, equipment, parts, and supplies; assist with inventory, receiving deliveries, material handling, and disposal of project debris. Vehicles were kept clean and service-ready, inspections and records were completed consistently, and communication remained clear and effective while issues were handled calmly and appropriately. Additionally, as Campus Facility Support, strong, consistent, hands-on support that strengthened overall campus operations and facility readiness will have been delivered. Through timely maintenance, repairs, inspections, work-order completion, classroom and campus setup, inventory organization, and seasonal projects, the position will have helped ensure facilities remained safe, clean, functional, organized, and prepared for daily and year-long operations. Education, Experience, Medical Requirements, And Required Competencies High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required Driving record must meet the standards detailed in the Valor Christian Vehicle Usage Policy Ability to pass background checks and alcohol/drug screening Ability to pass any required medical examination and/or medical history review Must not have any medical condition that would impair the ability to drive safely and meet vision, hearing, cardiovascular, and general health standards Proven reliability and punctuality Ability to work effectively with teenagers and maintain appropriate boundaries Basic mechanical awareness and strong situational judgment CPR/First Aid certification Knowledge of local routes and driving in varying weather conditions PHYSICAL DEMANDS The position requires the ability to sit for extended periods and maintain alertness while driving. Physical demands also include prolonged periods of standing and walking on various surfaces and in varying environments; bending, kneeling, squatting, climbing ladders or scaffolding, and occasionally crawling or working in confined spaces. Employees must be able to lift and/or move materials, equipment, and supplies up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally, as well as perform physical tasks for extended periods and in varying weather conditions. The position requires sufficient hand-eye coordination and dexterity to safely use tools and equipment, along with close and distance vision, color vision, peripheral and depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. WORK ENVIRONMENT The work environment characteristics are varied and include in vehicles, on road, street, highway, and parking lots, as well as interior buildings, classroom, office, and outdoor events while performing the essential functions of this job. The noise level in the work environment is also varied. POSITION TYPE: C: Year-round schedule. 12-Month Calendar. HOURS PER WEEK: Full-time, Non-Exempt . Shuttle driver hours are specific to am/pm pickup/dropoff times on all in-school days. Regular work hours are required during non-school days when the shuttle is not operating, and will be specific to campus-facility support as described in “Secondary Responsibilities” above. SUPERVISOR: Facilities Manager PAY RANGE: $23.00 - $25.00 per hour START DATE: Sept 1, 2026
