Shuttle Driver
About the role
Meet, greet and welcome customers of WVU Medicine while manning the shuttles. The shuttle drivers must have great customer service and driving skills when operating the shuttles.
Responsibilities
- Arrive to assigned area to prepare shuttle for the days run.
- Check fluid and operation of the shuttle prior to loading the first passenger of the day.
- Arrive on time and wear proper uniform issued to you.
- Follow all traffic laws, posted speed limits and signals.
- Report all accidents/incidents immediately to your supervisor.
- Contact supervisor immediately if problematic situations arise.
- Follow designated route and guidelines when loading/unloading passengers.
- Maintain shuttle inside and out during non-peak hours.
- Document shuttle issues and notify supervisor immediately.
- No cell phone usage while shuttle is operating per the law and policy.
- Take breaks on non-peak times.
- Communicate with other drivers via radio.
- Update documentation of passengers at all destinations.
- Report suspicious activity to Security Dispatcher immediately.
- Report any vehicle assistance to Security Dispatcher immediately.
- Know how to operate wheelchair lift on handicap-equipped shuttles.
Qualifications
- Valid Driver’s License.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- Three years driving experience driving a multiple passenger vehicle is preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Sit continuously within the shuttles from parking lot areas.
- Minimize manual lifting of patients/employees, limiting safe patient handling to 35 pounds.
- Complete vision screening test for near and far vision.
- Screen 20/40 or better or refer to the Eye Center.
Skills and Abilities
- Operate all types of automobiles and light trucks, both standard and automatic transmissions.
- Drive a (15) passenger Shuttle.
- Have great customer and people skills.
Working Environment
- Exposed to all types of weather conditions.
- Exposed to all traffic conditions.
