Shuttle Driver
About the Job
This position supports operation of Arboretum on-site shuttling operations. Shuttle drivers help create a safe, positive visitor experience by engaging guests with curiosity and a spirit of discovery, sharing information about the Arboretum, and supporting access for visitors of all abilities.
Responsibilities
- Drive the Arboretum’s 24-passenger shuttle bus safely around 3 Mile Drive or the parking areas and off campus adhering to posted speed limits and safety protocols.
- Safely operate a Toro 11-passenger vehicle (i.e., Bee Line Shuttle) which circulates throughout Arboretum main campus via Three Mile Drive.
- Greet passengers, providing suggestions to visitors on what to see on their visit to the Arboretum.
- Adhere to scheduled times to minimize waits at each stop.
- Maintain radio communication with other shuttle drivers and supervisors at all times to coordinate operations and support safety and emergency response, as needed.
- Communicate any issues during shift to supervisor and vehicle maintenance staff, as needed.
Qualifications
- High School diploma/GED
- Must have a valid Minnesota driver's license.
- Must hold a Class C Commercial Driver’s License with a Passenger endorsement
- Able to lift 20-30 lbs
- Age 19 or older
- Ability to successfully pass a background check
- Able to work as a team or individually and follow directions
- Good customer service skills and the ability to interact with guests of all ages.
- Requires the ability to stand or sit for up to 4 hours on a continuous basis.
Preferred
- Ability to communicate well with diverse ethnic and socioeconomic groups in a wide variety of situations.
- Familiarity with Landscape Arboretum programs, grounds and buildings.
Pay and Benefits
Pay Range: $18.00 per hour; depending on education/qualifications/experience.
