Shredder Mechanic Helper

The Mechanic Helper supports the maintenance team in a physically demanding role, requiring an aptitude for mechanical work and a foundational understanding of internal combustion engines, power transmission, electronics, and hydraulic systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine preventive maintenance tasks, including oil changes, filter replacements, oil sampling, greasing, and pressure washing equipment.
• Clean radiators and filter housings using compressed air and operate air compressors.
• Operate various vehicles and mobile equipment, including fuel trucks, lube trucks, forklifts, pumps, light towers, power tools, and hoists.
• Complete minor documentation tasks such as inspections, oil sample analysis, and maintenance reports.
• Perform extended manual labor, including lifting, shoveling, stocking shelves, sweeping, and general upkeep of the equipment and work area.
• Follow instructions, policies, and procedures as directed.
• Conduct minor equipment repairs, perform pre-start inspections, and check fluid levels to ensure equipment is safe and ready for operation.
• Carry out additional duties as assigned.
• Safely work at heights and comply with all fall protection requirements, including the use of personal fall arrest systems (PFAS) when required. Ability to climb ladders, work from elevated platforms, and perform work at heights of up to 50 feet while wearing required fall protection equipment.
