About the role
The Shipley School seeks a qualified candidate for the position of Short Term Upper School Modern Language French teacher for the 2026-2027 school year starting in September.
Responsibilities
- Teach 3 sections of French at varied levels in the Modern Language Department
- Create summative assessments that reflect the three modes of communication (interpersonal, presentational, and interpretive)
- Execute lessons using a wide variety of authentic materials
- Differentiate instruction in order to meet all students' needs
- Work collaboratively with department members to develop a cohesive curriculum that supports student growth at all levels
- Constructively solicit and use feedback in the classroom
Qualifications
- At least a Bachelor's degree in a related field (Master's degree preferred)
- Experience in the Modern Language Classroom
- Experience teaching several levels of French at the high school level
- Experience teaching French to Upper School-aged students (Grades 9-12)
- Command of appropriate L2 strategies
- Near-to-native or native level of proficiency in speaking and writing French and English
- Experience with content-based instruction to Upper-School-aged students
- Familiarity with ACTFL Standards and proficiency-based language teaching methodologies
- Experience in immersion-based teaching (100% target language)
- Ability to differentiate instruction to meet all students' needs

Additional information
