About Us

Responsibilities

• Teach French to students in grades 9-12, developing proficiency in all language skills across novice, intermediate, and advanced levels
• Create an inclusive and dynamic classroom environment that encourages student participation and engagement
• Implement a variety of instructional strategies, with a focus on communicative language teaching and cultural understanding based on ACTFL Proficiency Guidelines
• Collaborate with colleagues in the World Languages Department to develop a cohesive and interdisciplinary curriculum
• Assess student learning effectively and communicate progress regularly with students and their families
• Design performance assessments and projects that assess the 21st-century skills of critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in French, Education or a related field; Master's degree preferred
• Native or near-native proficiency in French
• At least 3 years of high school teaching experience with demonstrated success in fostering novice and intermediate language proficiency
• Strong understanding of and commitment to the principles of effective language instruction
• Ability to integrate technology in the classroom to enhance learning experiences
• Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to connect with students and families
• Commitment to the mission and values of Connelly School of the Holy Child and to fostering an inclusive and diverse school community
• Willingness to engage in continual professional development and reflect on teaching practices
