Short-term publicist: Help publicize our December concerts
About Us
We are a 47-year-old, New York, a cappella vocal ensemble, with a distinct repertoire and attitude, and a small but loyal following. We present one program of three concerts in December and another program in May. The Mob's mission is all about face-to-face, human music performance—not recordings, not videos, not World, or even North American, domination. Our territorial ambitions are small. Our musical reach goes back centuries but halts at the border of the 21st. We operate as a collective, meaning members choose the concert theme, build the program, and arrange most pieces.
About the Role
We seek a part-time, short-term publicist to help us get the word out about our seasonal concerts. We need help growing our audience and filling our venues. We need someone who appreciates what we do, someone who "gets" us, someone connected with the NYC multicultural arts network. (Perhaps that someone is already doing work like this for small arts orgs and can add us to what they already do?) Someone knowledgeable about the right social media platforms as well as listings, recommendation sites, etc. to reach potential concertgoers. Two Mob members will provide most content, supervision, and support.
Schedule
This work would start in mid-October and run about eight weeks, through concert weekend (December 11, 12, 13, 2026), occupying four hours per week, more or less. If everyone is happy, we'd do it again from mid-March to mid-May.
Pay
Flat fee: $600.
How to Apply
Read all about us at www.artmob.org, especially the pages under "About Us". Check out a program from a past concert; hear some selected songs and clips from recent as well as ancient performances. Then get in touch!
