About the role
An entry-level position within the Mesa Maintenance Shop offering a dynamic environment where technicians can gain valuable experience in various mechanical trades. This hands-on role provides a solid foundation for career growth within the maintenance industry.
Responsibilities
- Assist and participate in routine inspections and modifications to natural gas engines and generators.
- Perform load testing on units to identify possible problems.
- Make electrical and mechanical wiring modifications to control circuits.
- Test batteries, fuel, coolant, and oil; ship oil samples for analysis.
- Complete all assigned tasks directed by shop mechanics.
- Document work performed and report any abnormalities or concerns to supervisors.
- Collaborate with team members to achieve shop goals and objectives.
- Clean and maintain work areas and equipment to ensure safety and efficiency.
- Assist with inventory management and parts replacement as needed.
- Learn the Shop Tech I checklist and become proficient in basic LB understanding.
- Complete the Shop Tech Course and pass the course.
- Perform all duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent (required).
- Trade school or college program graduates in Automotive/Diesel/NG (preferred).
- 0-1 year of relevant experience (required).
- Honorably discharged service veterans (preferred).
- Valid driver’s license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers.
- Able to work independently with little supervision.
- Ability to work under stress in high-pressure situations.
- Handle frequent interruptions and conflict effectively.
- Willingness to learn new processes and business functions.
- Team player with adaptability to fast-paced, ambiguous environments.
- Positive, energetic, self-starter attitude with excellent drive and work ethic.
- Effective communication skills and ability to maintain deadlines.
- Must pass a WorkSTEPS physical.
- Willing to consent to and pass a background check and drug screening.
Skills
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Applications.
- Familiarity with general shop tools.
Physical Demands
- Sitting, standing, walking, or moving throughout the facility.
- Driving and talking.
- Specific vision abilities: close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Hearing and use of hands to type, touch, handle, or feel.
- Bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, reaching, kneeling, pushing, and pulling.
- Frequently lift and/or move up to 25 lbs; occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
- Climb into confined spaces that may contain hazardous gas.
