About the role

As a Shop Technician with Power Motive Corporation, you will diagnose and repair heavy construction equipment in the shop. This includes overhauling and maintaining diesel motors used to operate heavy equipment, trucks, generators, and other machinery. You will work with minimal supervision to diagnose failures and rebuild all machine components, such as electrical, hydraulic, engine, transmission, and ground engaging gear. You will collaborate professionally with customers and support sales, parts departments, and revenue generation for Power Motive Corporation.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose all machine systems and components.
  • Determine appropriate parts necessary for repairs.
  • Change or rebuild machine components as needed.
  • Use pressure-washing equipment to clean machinery.
  • Ensure machines are in safe operating condition.
  • Perform basic welding, cutting, and grinding.
  • Change oil and filters on machinery.
  • Change ground engaging gear and attachments on machinery.
  • Read and understand parts and service books.
  • Maintain service records for machines.
  • Clean tools and working area.
  • Interact professionally and courteously with customers.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • 1-2 years of experience in heavy equipment repair.
  • Educational background or certification in heavy equipment repairs.
  • Ability to diagnose, change, and rebuild machine components (electrical, hydraulic, engine, transmission, etc.).
  • Proficiency in using shop facilities and tools.
  • Basic welding, cutting, and grinding skills.
  • Ability to read and understand parts and service manuals.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of heavy equipment experience.
  • Diesel Technician certification preferred.
  • Ability to be certified on forklift and overhead crane operation.
  • Heavy Equipment Dealer certification(s) is a plus.

Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and talk or hear.
  • Occasionally required to sit and taste or smell.
  • Must determine whether to lift objects manually or use cranes, forklifts, or other lifting equipment.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds using proper lifting techniques.
  • Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
