Shop Mechanic
About the role
The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and repairing company vehicles and equipment. Duties/Responsibilities include:
- Service and repair company vehicles and equipment in a safe, quality, and timely manner
- Troubleshoot and identify necessary repairs
- Install equipment
- Perform typical maintenance services at scheduled intervals
- Inspect vehicles and equipment and report issues to the Fleet Maintenance Department
- Document work orders and maintain detailed notes about repairs and replacements
- Report tampering
- Note repetitive issues that could trigger warranty coverage
- Recommend installation changes that could reduce repairs needed over time
- Complete and submit all required documents in an accurate and timely manner
- Work proficiently in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Outlook
- Keep work area clean and secure
- Comply with federal and state vehicle requirements
- Comply with company and federal safety rules, policies, and procedures
- Maintain and establish cooperative working relationships
- Serve as an example for other employees; foster a culture of respect, integrity, and kindness
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements/Qualifications
- 1+ year diesel mechanic experience; electrical construction experience preferred
- Ownership of repair tools
- Experience with Smart Phones, tablets, and laptops preferred
- Experience with welding preferred
- Class A valid CDL and clean driving record preferred
- Must be comfortable working outdoors in extreme temperatures and conditions
- Ability to regularly lift 40 pounds and periodically lift up to 75 pounds
- Ability to climb up into big rigs, crawl under vehicles, maneuver around equipment and vehicles to work on them
- Ability to manipulate hands, arms, and fingers to use hand tools and power tools
- Ability to see in minimal light at times, differentiating color and texture to identify concerns
