About the Role
Southeast Pump Specialist, Inc. serves Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina and Florida. We specialize in industrial pump repair and are a distributor for pumps, mechanical seals and mechanical packing.
Responsibilities
- Inspect, disassemble, measure, clean, repair, rebuild, and assemble industrial pumps and rotating equipment.
- Diagnose mechanical problems and determine the cause of equipment failure.
- Perform repairs and replacements of bearings, seals, packing, bushings, shafts, wear rings, impellers, sleeves, and other pump components.
- Measure shafts, housings, bearings, impellers, and other components using precision measuring tools.
- Read and interpret pump drawings, assembly drawings, manuals, and specifications.
- Perform pump alignment using dial indicators, laser alignment equipment, or other precision tools.
- Inspect repaired equipment to ensure proper fit, clearances, tolerances, and operating condition.
- Assist with testing pumps and equipment after repairs.
- Operate shop equipment and tools, including overhead cranes, forklifts, presses, grinders, drills, hydraulic equipment, and other mechanical equipment.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Complete work orders, inspection reports, repair documentation, and parts lists accurately.
- Identify additional repair requirements and communicate findings to supervisors or management.
- Follow established repair procedures, safety requirements, and quality standards.
- Assist with field service or emergency repairs when needed.
- Properly handle, store, and dispose of oils, solvents, chemicals, and other shop materials.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Mechanical experience in an industrial, manufacturing, maintenance, pump, or rotating-equipment environment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring equipment.
- Ability to read basic mechanical drawings and understand equipment specifications.
- Ability to safely operate or learn to operate forklifts, overhead cranes, and other shop equipment.
- Ability to lift, move, and work around heavy industrial equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
