Shop Mechanic

About the role

Shop Mechanic responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and performing preventive maintenance on construction equipment and vehicles, including excavators, loaders, forklifts, and trucks.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, troubleshoot, and diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues using diagnostic tools.
• Perform routine repairs, adjustments, and preventive maintenance to minimize equipment downtime.
• Weld and fabricate parts needed for repairs.
• Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, and maintenance activities.
• Order and manage inventory of parts and tools.
• Ensure all work complies with safety standards and company policies.
• Assist with setup and operation of new equipment and collaborate with team members.
• Keep the shop organized, clean, and safe.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical/vocational training preferred.
• 3–5 years of mechanic experience, preferably in heavy equipment or construction.
• Strong knowledge of diesel, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
• Proficiency with diagnostic tools; ability to read technical manuals.
• Fabrication and welding skills are highly desirable.
• Valid driver’s license; CDL preferred or ability to obtain.
• Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, and ability to work independently or in a team.
• Physical capability to lift heavy equipment, stand long periods, and work in various weather conditions.

Working Conditions

Primarily shop environment with potential travel to job sites; exposure to noise, dust, and machinery.
