About the role
Shop Mechanic responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and performing preventive maintenance on construction equipment and vehicles, including excavators, loaders, forklifts, and trucks.
Responsibilities
- Inspect, troubleshoot, and diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues using diagnostic tools.
- Perform routine repairs, adjustments, and preventive maintenance to minimize equipment downtime.
- Weld and fabricate parts needed for repairs.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, and maintenance activities.
- Order and manage inventory of parts and tools.
- Ensure all work complies with safety standards and company policies.
- Assist with setup and operation of new equipment and collaborate with team members.
- Keep the shop organized, clean, and safe.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical/vocational training preferred.
- 3–5 years of mechanic experience, preferably in heavy equipment or construction.
- Strong knowledge of diesel, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
- Proficiency with diagnostic tools; ability to read technical manuals.
- Fabrication and welding skills are highly desirable.
- Valid driver’s license; CDL preferred or ability to obtain.
- Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, and ability to work independently or in a team.
- Physical capability to lift heavy equipment, stand long periods, and work in various weather conditions.
Working Conditions
Primarily shop environment with potential travel to job sites; exposure to noise, dust, and machinery.
