Main Job Duties
- Diagnose small engine issues and recommend repairs.
- Communicate with customers on issues regarding their small engine and options regarding repairs vs buying new.
- Enter detailed repair notes, equipment specifications and customer contact information into the work order system.
- Work on small engines in a variety of methods that are not limited to but include: carburetor cleaning/replacement, valve adjustments, fuel line replacement, etc.
- Work closely with supervisor/management in assessing current work volume to best determine length of time for customer repairs.
- Maintain clean and organized shop where tools and equipment are safe to use and easy to find.
- Answer telephones and handle routine customer telephone inquiries.
- Other duties as assigned that relate to the small engine repair process or store operations.
Required Skills/Experience
- Proven work history in repairing small engines.
- Ability to diagnose power tool or equipment issues.
- Ability to type detailed notes for each repair and enter them into the work order system.
- Excellent customer service and ability to build strong customer relationships and follow through is desired.
Required Education/Certification
- Small Engine Repair certifications are preferred: Stihl, Honda, Kohler, Briggs/Straton, etc.
- High School diploma, GED or equivalent experience preferred not required.
Other Requirements
- Must be able to work majority of shift standing and be able to lift up to 75 pounds, (majority of lifting will be between 5 to 45 lbs) to move merchandise.
- Must be able to physically participate in resets, remodels and reconstruction projects.
