About the role
The Shop Mechanic 1 at MGB Manufacturing, LLC is responsible for performing maintenance and repair tasks on machinery, equipment, and vehicles within the shop. This role requires an individual with basic mechanical skills who can assist with inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs under the supervision of more experienced mechanics.
Key Roles / Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and minor repairs on manufacturing equipment, tools, and vehicles.
- Assist in diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues in various equipment.
- Replace worn-out or defective parts and components such as hoses, belts, filters, etc.
- Keep records of all maintenance work, inspections, and repairs completed in the shop.
- Follow safety guidelines and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
- Assist with the installation of new equipment and machinery as required.
- Report any major repairs needed to the Shop Supervisor or Maintenance Manager.
- Support senior mechanics and collaborate with the team to resolve mechanical problems.
- Use appropriate hand and power tools for repairs and maintenance tasks.
- Adhere to MGB Manufacturing’s standards of quality and safety in all work performed.
Required Education, Experience, And Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent required.
- Technical or vocational training in mechanics or a related field is preferred.
- A basic understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
- Experience with basic hand and power tools.
- Ability to lift heavy equipment and work in physically demanding environments.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and teamwork abilities.
Working Conditions
- Bending, lifting, climbing, pushing, pulling, kneeling, sitting stand, walk, kneel, stoop, squat, pull, push, climb, crouch, crawl, talk, hear, and see and standing (occasionally) for long periods of time.
- Moderate to heavy lifting and carrying.
- Must be able to position oneself to work in confined spaces such as trenches, pits, manholes, attics, and tunnels and demonstrate manual dexterity and be able to use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
- Exposure to moderate noise levels, vibrations, and bright lights; and exposure to dust, fumes, and gases; and all climate types including hot and cold temperatures, humidity, rain, snow, etc.
- Able to wear common protective or safety equipment such as safety shoes, glasses, gloves, hearing protection and hard hats when needed.
- React quickly using hands, fingers, or feet.
- Must be able to comprehend and follow written and oral instructions.
- Must be able to complete tasks even with frequent interruptions.
- Must be able to use discretion and independent judgment as needed.
- Must be able to speak clearly on the phone and to fellow workers.
