Essential Functions
- Reads work orders and specifications to determine tasks and priorities; may initiate work orders to track verbal in-person maintenance requests
- Troubleshoots and performs minor repair and maintenance of external building, grounds, plumbing, and other mechanical systems or equipment
- Maintains fluid levels and adds/changes fluids including coolant to machines; safely transports and stores used coolant for collection by authorized waste vendor
- Performs facility cleaning, including sweeping and mopping floors and other surface cleaning; cleans and sanitizes restrooms, breakrooms, and eyewash stations; empties trash and scrap bins as needed
- Stocks and organizes materials and fixtures within the designated storage area
- Records data in ERP, maintenance work order system, or other electronic storage
- Safely and efficiently operates forklift and other material-handling equipment
- Operates motor vehicle to traverse facility and obtain or deliver parts and supplies as needed
- Uses hand and power tools, cleaners, and lubricants for facility maintenance
- Maintains a safe, clean work environment and follows all safety procedures
- May participate in safety committee activities
Required Education And Work Experience
- A high school diploma or GED equivalent
- Experience in CNC machining to understand machining concepts and tool feeds and speeds is preferred
Other Required Skills And Abilities
- Valid driver's license and acceptable safe driving record to meet insurance requirements
- Forklift experience is preferred; forklift certification must be obtained upon hire and maintained through employment
- Experience reading and accurately interpreting shop blueprints, technical drawings, customer specifications is required
- Mechanical aptitude and basic knowledge of facility maintenance is required
- Experience using powered electric and/or pneumatic hand tools including grinders or sanders is preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft office applications including Outlook, Excell, PowerPoint, and Word
- ERP or Work Order system experience is preferred
- Self-management skills including efficiency, sense of urgency, ability to adapt and respond to unexpected circumstances, and ability to juggle multiple projects, competing priorities, and meet concurrent deadlines
- Appropriate written and verbal communication skills and consistently legible handwriting (English)
Physical Demands And Work Environment
- Regularly stand and walk throughout the facility, and stand for long periods to perform job duties
- Regularly lift, carry (short distances), and push/pull up to 100 pounds using peer assistance and/or other lifting & material handling equipment
- Frequently bend, crawl, stoop, squat or kneel
- Frequently climb steps, stairs, or ladders
- Accurately distinguish colors, letters, and numbers
- Use hands and fingers to remove and install hardware, adjust controls, and operate tools
- Use hands and fingers to operate computer and peripheral equipment
Working Conditions
- Excessive noise (hearing protection required)
- Dust, smoke, mist, fumes/vapors (regularly)
- Extreme temperatures (occasionally)
- Hazardous equipment, including forklifts, hand tools, cranes or other lifting devices, and other equipment used in a machine shop environment (continually)
