Shop Laborer - Weekdays, Fabrication Shop

About the role

As a Shop Laborer at Maguire, you will perform a variety of tasks within the fabrication shop, supporting the fabrication, construction, and maintenance of water storage tanks and elevated water towers.

Responsibilities

• Clean and lubricate equipment, maintain a manufacturing area free from debris and dirt, and ready or put away tools as assigned.
• Closely follow directions to operate machinery, hold or supply materials and tools, and load or unload items on machinery.
• Care for property by repairing yard, shoveling, and removing snow.
• Use an oxygen acetylene torch to cut steel scrap material and carry it to a bin to assist with burn table operations.
• Fill in for the sandblaster to ensure continuing blast booth operations if the full-time blaster is absent.
• Perform any unskilled job at the fabrication shop as needed.
• Report any issues to a supervisor or higher-level employee.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to listen, understand, and follow directions.
• Ability to work in a variety of roles.
• Adhere to Maguire’s PPE Policy and Safety Programs.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Job training for this position is provided by a department trainer.

Work Environment

• Must have enough manual dexterity and stability as required for precision work.
• Must be able to see details at close range.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
• Must be able to traverse construction sites by climbing, balancing, lifting, walking, stooping, and carrying materials.
