Job Function
Performs tasks supporting JFT Management, Shop Welders, Machinists, Fabricators, Receipt Inspectors and other duties as assigned.
Core Duties & Responsibilities
- Operate forklifts, grinders, saws and other shop equipment.
- Drive the company truck, courier parts and tow trailers.
- Kit components for downstream processes.
- Housekeeping and general maintenance.
- Verify receipt of items compared to purchase orders.
- Attend pre-job briefs and ensure jobs and tasks are completed on time.
- Perform duties and tasks in compliance with company procedures.
- Maintain a safe and clean shop and manage PPE supplies.
Physical Requirements
- Strength and Stamina: The job involves lifting and moving parts or materials, typically up to 50lbs. The ability to stand for long periods (8+ hours) is required.
- Manual Dexterity: Precise hand movements are necessary for handling tools, making adjustments to machines and operating a computer.
- Visual Acuity: Good eyesight, including close vision and depth perception, is important for detailed work.
- Mobility: Frequent bending, stooping, and crouching is required, along with the ability to maneuver around machinery and equipment.
- Cordination: The role requires good hand-eye coordination to operate equipment safely and effectively.
- Communication: Must be able to communicate effectively in writing and verbally with team members, customers and vendors.
Typical Working Conditions
Machine and fabrication shop environment around equipment such as water jet tables, lathes, milling machines, press brakes and forklifts. Welding operations are often taking place nearby. This job requires adherence to strict safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Qualifications & Experience
- Knowledge of fabrication shop tooling & processes.
- Basic computer skills (MS Excel MS Word, MS Outlook).
- Detail oriented with good written & verbal communication skills.
- Able to read and interpret simple drawings.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
