About the Role
Assist in leading a maintenance enterprise, ensuring Service Technicians, equipment, and materials are utilized properly to maximize productivity. Improve efficiency and customer satisfaction by ensuring equipment is properly maintained and repaired. Work closely with the Service/Branch Manager to build a profitable location through leadership, service, and maintenance knowledge. This role paves the way for advancement into the Service Manager position.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate the activities of Service Technicians
- Train and supervise mechanical personnel when necessary
- Responsible for the safe maintenance and repair of a variety of complex rental equipment
- Diagnose and supervise the repair of equipment to ensure work is performed efficiently
- Maintain paperwork/electronic documentation of work performed (work orders) in a complete and timely manner on a daily basis
- Travel to customer job sites for repair/maintenance of rental or customer-owned equipment; maintain service vehicle in a clean and professional manner
- Other duties assigned as needed
Requirements
- High School Diploma required; trade-school degree a plus
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
- 5+ years of experience repairing/maintaining equipment and tools
- Advanced mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of tools
- Must own tools applicable to the position
- Extensive knowledge of construction equipment with an advanced understanding of schematics and diagrams
- Strong diagnostic and repair skills for a variety of systems
- Superior customer service, teamwork, and verbal/written communication skills

About the Role (Fluid Solutions)
Assist in leading a maintenance enterprise at a Fluid Solutions branch. Use your technical knowledge to perform routine maintenance, troubleshoot, and repair pump equipment of varying sizes, capacity, function, and manufacturer. Coordinate the activities of yard and shop personnel, diagnose and supervise the repair and assembly of Fluid Solutions equipment to ensure efficient work while maintaining a clean and safe work area.
Responsibilities (Fluid Solutions)
- Create work schedules and maintain proper accounting of Service Technician productivity
- Generate service-related revenue
- Schedule and perform timely repairs for rental and customer equipment
- Travel to customer sites for repair/maintenance of equipment when required
- Accurately order needed parts from vendors
- Assist peers in developing diagnostic skills and perform all service technician functions when necessary
- Other duties assigned as needed
Requirements (Fluid Solutions)
- High School diploma or equivalent; trade school training preferred
- 5+ years of experience with repairing and maintaining vehicles and equipment
- Highly developed mechanical background knowledge, particularly with various engines
- Extensive knowledge of construction equipment
- Advanced understanding of schematics and diagrams
- Own the tools applicable to the position
- Strong leadership, teamwork, and customer service skills
- Diligent attention to safety
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record

About the Role (Trench Safety)
Assist in leading a maintenance enterprise at a Trench Safety branch. Ensure your team, equipment, and materials are utilized properly to maximize productivity. Perform all previous or available levels of Equipment Associate and Welder duties. Coordinate the activities of yard and shop personnel who provide labor assistance to the sales staff, diagnose, and supervise the repair and assembly of Trench Safety equipment to ensure efficient work while maintaining a clean and safe work area.
Responsibilities (Trench Safety)
- Plan, organize, and schedule Equipment Associates and Welders activities as needed; delegate tasks and enforce safety procedures
- Monitor, train, and supervise employees to ensure work is done correctly
- Supervise the safe maintenance and repair of a variety of complex rental equipment at branch or customer locations; order needed parts when necessary
- Diagnose all equipment in the rental fleet appropriately utilizing schematics or engineering tabulated data
- Travel to customer site for repair/maintenance of rental or owned equipment
- Assist in the pickup and delivery of equipment and parts to and from outside vendors and other United Rentals, Inc. locations for purchase and repair
- Other duties assigned as needed
Requirements (Trench Safety)
- High School diploma or equivalent; trade school training preferred
- 5+ years of experience repairing and maintaining equipment and tools
- Knowledge of proper hydraulic and pneumatic testing procedures
- Working knowledge of trench safety-related products and applications
- Strong leadership, teamwork, and customer service skills
- Diligent attention to safety
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record

About the Role (Fence Installation Foreman)
As a Fence Installation Foreman at Reliable Onsite Services, a division of United Rentals, perform all previous or available levels of Fence Installer and Fence Driver duties. Ensure workers, equipment, and materials are utilized properly to maximize productivity. Coordinate the activities of Fence Installers and Fence Drivers, supervise the installation of equipment to ensure work is performed efficiently, and maintain a clean and safe work area at all times.
Responsibilities (Fence Installation Foreman)
- Plan, organize, and schedule Fence Installers and Fence Drivers activities as needed; delegate tasks and enforce safety procedures
- Monitor employees and ensure that work is done correctly
- Train and supervise personnel when necessary
- Responsible for the safe installation and removal of a variety of fence-based rental items using a high degree of independent judgment
- Problem-solve issues that occur in the field
- Maintain paperwork/electronic documentation of work performed in a complete and timely manner on a daily basis
- Ensure proper usage of HHD (handheld device)
- Document all equipment used and labor accurately
- Ensure proper documentation and maintenance logs of installation equipment, delivery fleet, and all other non-rental assets
- Travel to customer site for installation/removal when required
- Maintain a vehicle in a clean and professional manner
- Assist in the pickup and delivery of equipment and parts to and from outside vendors and other United Rentals, Inc. locations
- Maintain proper branch-level inventories in conjunction with Branch Manager to ensure accuracy of needed parts using reference material as required through approved vendors
- Complete ride-alongs when drivers have Smart Drive infractions as well as retraining of repeat offenders
- Active participation in one 5S quarterly assessment
- Actively participate in safety huddles and documentation processes
- Train Fence Drivers and Installation Associates on safety protocols and proper fence installation/removal techniques
Requirements (Fence Installation Foreman)
- High School Diploma or equivalency
- Manufacturer-sponsored training a plus
- Trade school training a plus
- Active applicable state class driver’s license
- 3+ years of experience installing/removing temporary fence items
- Mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of tools and machinery
- Good leadership, teamwork, and customer service skills
- Good time management skills
- Advanced knowledge of rental cycle
- Working knowledge of reading site diagrams/topography maps
- Assist peers in developing problem-solving skills and may perform both Fence Driver I and II functions when necessary
- Activities requiring handling and grasping with the hands when performing repairs or maintenance of equipment by utilizing hand tools, power tools, air tools, nuts, bolts, electronic controls, and other small parts
- Frequent lifting up to 25 lbs., occasional lifting up to 45 lbs.
- Ability to wear a respirator and/or hearing protection as required
- Ability to bend, kneel, and work with arms raised for prolonged periods of time
- Ability to walk and stand on concrete and uneven surfaces for at least 4 hours per day
- Ability to climb over and into heavy equipment several times per day
