Shop Foreman
About the role
Assists in coordinating and directing the workload of the Service Department for maximum efficiency and productivity. Advises and recommends changes and improvements regarding processes to the Service Manager. Assists in the processing of repair and warranty work.
Responsibilities
- Assists with the assignment of jobs to service department employees according to their skills and knowledge.
- Assists in the appraisal of repair orders coming into the service department.
- Consistent communication with technicians to discuss the progress of their jobs.
- Provides direction to technicians on proper work order documentation for accuracy and completeness.
- Reviews the completed job with the technician and performs final inspection of the machine and signs off that the job is completed.
- Reviews parts and labor charged to each job before handing the completed work order to the Service Writer or Service Manager for closure.
- Provides performance feedback for Service Technicians to the Service Manager.
- Operates and maintains vehicles, tools and equipment required to perform job responsibilities.
- Maintains a clean and safe working environment for all technicians.
- Maintains current knowledge of John Deere and competitive equipment.
- Provides backup to the Service Manager role in their absence.
- Performs other duties and functions as directed by Management in line with the objectives of the dealership.
Qualifications
Demonstrated experience consistently meeting performance metrics. Experience leading a team and working cooperatively in a team environment. Experience operating vehicles, tools, and equipment for diagnostic purposes. Experience with basic computer functions; Experience using Service ADVISOR or other computer based diagnostic repair tools preferred. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience required. Valid driver’s license required; Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) preferred.
