Shop Administrative Technician II
Recruitment: The State Highway Administration is currently recruiting for a Shop Administrative Technician II position located in District 5 Glen Burnie Shop (Anne Arundel County). This is an interview and hire position open to anyone who meets the minimum qualifications.
About the role
The main purpose of this position is to pick up, receive, and deliver parts and supplies, and take physical inventory of supplies, materials, and equipment on hand. This position enters and retrieves data by computer and prepares, receives, approves, and processes requisitions, invoices, and purchase orders for stock replacement, equipment repair, and replacement via computer entry. This position is a MD corporate Credit Card holder and must maintain records of usage and reconciliation. The role involves inspecting received items for quality and damage, ensuring they are issued to the proper individuals, stocking all supplies and materials for maintenance shop personnel, and contacting vendors with any issues.
Responsibilities
- Pick up, receive, and deliver parts and supplies
- Take physical inventory of supplies, materials, and equipment
- Enter and retrieve data via computer systems
- Prepare, receive, approve, and process requisitions, invoices, and purchase orders for stock replacement and equipment repair
- Maintain records of corporate credit card usage and reconciliation
- Inspect received items for quality and damage
- Ensure items are issued to the proper individuals
- Stock supplies and materials for maintenance shop personnel
- Contact vendors to resolve issues
Requirements
- Graduation from a standard high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate
- One year of experience performing administrative support work and/or receiving, storing, and issuing supplies, materials, and equipment in a storeroom, warehouse, or other supply storage facility
- Possession of a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland
- Must pass SHA Level I Small Procurement Training Certification during the six-month probationary period
- Ability to type accurately at a speed of not less than twenty words per minute (preferred)
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to operate computerized systems such as FMIS, Maximo, EORS, CCMS
- Experience receiving parts and supplies, taking physical inventory, and entering/retrieving data via personal computer
Special Requirements
- This is an essential position; employees must be available for 24-hour emergency call back with a response time of less than one hour
- Employees must maintain reliable communication for emergency call-back requirements
- The probationary period is six months, with a possible extension to one year due to the seasonal nature of job duties
