Shipyard Worker/Hull Trainee

Responsibilities

• Conveying material to various locations throughout the jobsite
• Organizing and maintaining clean work areas
• Performing basic insulation installation, coating application, taping, and removal
• Participating in on-the-job training
• Learning insulation removal and/or installation on the job
• Participating in formal skills training classes
• Having insulation work reviewed and evaluated by supervisors
• Functioning under the guidance of experienced team members

Requirements

• No previous experience required
• Must be at least 18 years old
• Able to withstand prolonged periods standing and working outside
• Physically able to perform assigned tasks
• Must be able to lift 40 pounds at a time

Qualifications

• Join the applicable labor union, Local 5 or Local 721
• Must be local to the San Diego area

Skills

• Construction experience is beneficial

Benefits

• Starting pay at $21.97 per hour, plus benefits
• Wage progression occurs at certain attained hours or at the discretion of the Superintendent
