About the role
The Shipping Specialist is responsible for preparing, processing, and managing outgoing shipments to ensure timely and accurate delivery of goods. This role involves coordinating with internal teams and external carriers, maintaining shipping records, and ensuring compliance with company policies and shipping regulations.
Responsibilities
- Operate sit-down propane fork-lifts, stand-up high-reach electric fork-lifts, overhead cranes, and other material handling equipment to move, pick, and place materials throughout the plant.
- Use high-reach forklifts to place pallet loads of metal fasteners weighing over 2,500 lbs. in rack locations more than 21 feet high.
- Perform daily, weekly, and monthly inspections of all utilized material handling equipment and request additional maintenance when required.
- Maintain accurate counts and locations of inventory while moving materials.
- Use counting scales for shipping and receiving transactions.
- Verify part numbers and descriptions to ensure correct parts are pulled and shipped.
- Safely load and unload trucks while maintaining accurate records of merchandise received or shipped.
- Follow ISO procedures for preparing parts for shipment, including tagging, banding, boxing, assembly, and cleaning.
- Complete shop forms, data collection, job tracking cards, work orders, bills of lading, and packing slips for accurate inventory and costing information.
- Monitor boxes, pallets, and shipping supplies to maintain satisfactory readiness levels.
- Keep the warehouse clean and organized.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum 3 years of warehouse experience.
Qualifications
- Ability to read a tape measure.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on minimizing errors.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to work efficiently with minimal errors and rework required.
- Demonstrates good time management and consistent productivity.
- Positive attitude toward customers and suppliers.
- Properly completes and maintains all forms and paperwork.
- Follows company standard policies and procedures with minimal deviation.
- Ability to interpret orders, forms, prints, and documents and take appropriate action.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and lift up to 75 lbs. for extended periods.
- Ability to work extended shifts as needed.
- Ability to work in varying warehouse and manufacturing conditions (hot, cold, humid, and confined spaces).
- Ability to safely operate equipment and perform repetitive physical tasks.
