About the role

The Shipping Specialist will perform safe and efficient picking, preparation, packaging, and transportation of products for customer shipments. They will verify the accuracy of incoming and outgoing shipments and orders, document damages and discrepancies, and ensure proper handling and storage of materials.

Responsibilities

  • Safely and accurately transport products to/from work sites or shipping areas using material handling equipment such as forklifts or pallet jacks.
  • Load and unload materials onto or from trucks, pallets, trays, racks, and shelves; assist outside truckers to properly load cargo.
  • Examine job packets, order information, and shipping documents to ensure:
    • Items are prepped properly for cargo through inspection, weighing, measuring, and counting.
    • Parts for shipment are securely stored, including operating RanPak, InstaPak, and other packaging machines.
    • Package contents are verified, complete, and meet company quality standards.
    • Count and part numbers of items are verified prior to packaging.
    • Incoming and outgoing freight is verified and documented against packing lists/bills of lading.
    • Incoming and outgoing warehouse parts undergo a visual quality check.
  • Efficiently build pallets and crates using hand and power tools, ensuring correct wrap and labels as indicated on the work order.
  • Maintain inventory levels by transferring and transacting products in real time using a bar code scanning system.
  • Communicate timely with the Warehouse Supervisor regarding status changes that affect order commitments.
  • Safely operate fork trucks, overhead cranes, electric pallet jacks, and other industrial vehicles for which training has been completed and qualification maintained.
  • Operate tools and equipment as instructed and only as intended by the manufacturer; ensure safe and proper storage.
  • Assist with storage/shipping projects as needed, including:
    • Performing bench and floor work to assemble, construct, build, and repair parts for degassing equipment, metal pumps, and similar units.
    • Setting up or adjusting fixture equipment for part assembly.
    • Completing work order kits for production and point-of-use deliveries.
    • Performing cycle counts and monitoring inventory levels.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED/TASC), plus one (1) year in a manufacturing warehouse or shipping environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Skills

  • Technical Skills:
    • Ability to use hoists and various hand/power tools (e.g., band and circular saws, weigh scales, foam generating equipment, banding equipment).
    • Ability to read and interpret simple blueprints.
    • Ability to obtain and maintain forklift certification and other industrial equipment certifications as needed.
  • Computer/Applications Skills:
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
    • Ability to operate electronic weight, printing, and computing equipment, including bar code scanners.
  • Core Business Skills:
    • Ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion in handling proprietary and confidential information.
    • Ability to work independently and use resources effectively.
    • Basic mathematical skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and measurement calculations.

Physical/Sensory Requirements

  • Regularly required to talk, hear, see, and use a personal computer, office equipment, and telephone.
  • Very active role requiring standing, walking, using stairs, bending, reaching, and repetitive hand movements to build and move shipping containers.
  • Must frequently lift and/or move items up to 75 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be able to wear protective or safety equipment such as safety shoes, glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and a respirator as needed.

Working Environment

  • Frequently exposed to fumes, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts (e.g., overhead cranes), vibration, and moving vehicles.
  • Noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.

Schedule

Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM

Pay

The hourly range for this full-time position is $20.00 - $27.00. Individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education/training. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus or benefits.
