About the role

The Shipping Receiving Supervisor oversees the scheduling and coordination of trucks and drivers according to customer requests while ensuring compliance with DOT regulations and company policies. This role controls departmental expenses and proactively resolves issues.

Responsibilities

  • Manages and schedules all outbound and inbound loads, coordinating with sales and production teams.
  • Coordinates proper loading and shipping orders with shipping/receiving personnel.
  • Sets up loads for shipment via common carrier with outside freight companies.
  • Ensures inbound product is stored properly.
  • Determines mode of transportation and selects appropriate carriers.
  • Negotiates rates for transportation services.
  • Coordinates routing of orders, dispatches carriers with orders, and provides delivery instructions aligned with customer receiving times.
  • Ensures all internal and external paperwork complies with Universal and DOT regulations.
  • Establishes delivery and receiving appointments, including loading times for each carrier.
  • Manages internal UFP equipment and drivers.
  • Resolves supplier and customer transportation issues.
  • Documents order shortages, investigates causes, and works with carriers and sales to resolve issues or secure compensation.
  • Audits and approves freight bills for payment.
  • Files claims for loss or damage on inventory and notifies plant management.
  • Handles calls for tracing and/or expediting orders.
  • Prepares reports and correspondence as required.
  • Manages data within the company’s data system.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two years of experience as a Production Manager or equivalent role.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Preferred experience and knowledge of UFP's organization, culture, and product lines.

Qualifications

  • Preferred bachelor’s degree in a related discipline or equivalent experience.
