About the role
The Shipping & Transportation Coordinator oversees the distribution process at the plant level, ensuring timely and cost-efficient delivery of inventory and finished goods. This position works closely with production and sales teams to coordinate outbound shipments and ensure accurate, on-time delivery of orders to customers.
Responsibilities
- Process bills of lading, shipping documents, freight bills, and other relevant paperwork to ensure all shipments are documented correctly.
- Manage the shipping office, ensuring it is fully stocked, organized, and supplied for daily operations.
- Develop and organize shipping routes to optimize delivery times and reduce costs.
- Coordinate outbound shipments with sales and production personnel to ensure timely and cost-effective deliveries.
- Liaise with shippers, carriers, and customers to expedite deliveries, resolve issues, and maintain strong business relationships.
- Communicate effectively with production and sales teams to align on delivery schedules and inventory requirements.
- Monitor and report on the productivity of the shipping department, ensuring efficiency and adherence to company standards.
- Step in as Traffic Manager or Shipping Supervisor when required, providing leadership and support in their absence.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the smooth operation of the shipping and transportation functions.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 1+ years in an administrative support role in a professional setting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey information effectively to different teams.
- Knowledge of office procedures and systems such as file management, record keeping, and designing forms.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities, with a focus on efficiency and attention to detail.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment.
