About the role

The Shipping Lead coordinates daily packaging and shipping operations to ensure timely, accurate, and efficient delivery of products to customer locations. This role leads the shipping team and works closely with production, warehouse, and supply chain teams to ensure products are packaged according to company standards and customer expectations. The Shipping Lead supports order fulfillment by monitoring shipment schedules, addressing issues that may impact delivery timelines, maintaining accurate documentation and system updates, and providing day-to-day work direction to shipping team members. The position partners with the Manager to support safety, performance, training, and operational execution.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate daily packaging and shipping activities to ensure on-time delivery of customer orders.
  • Monitor daily shipment schedules and take action to recover when shipments fall behind plan.
  • Work closely with production teams to ensure products are packaged according to company requirements and customer expectations.
  • Lead startup meetings and communicate daily priorities to the shipping team.
  • Provide guidance and support to shipping team members and fill in for team members when necessary.
  • Ensure shipments meet quality standards and documentation requirements prior to release.
  • Track daily shipments and support order prioritization when needed.
  • Coordinate with internal departments including production, warehouse, and supply chain to support efficient order fulfillment.
  • Promote continuous improvement initiatives including 5S and waste elimination practices.
  • Support training and development of team members through daily coaching and guidance.
  • Monitor attendance and support tracking of performance metrics.
  • Escalate personnel concerns or operational issues to the Warehouse Manager and HR when appropriate.
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Two or more years of experience in shipping, warehouse, logistics, or manufacturing operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to guide, support, or train team members in a production or warehouse environment.
  • Previous team lead, coordinator, or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Experience coordinating shipments, packaging, or material flow in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Experience working in ERP systems; Infor experience preferred.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles including 5S and waste elimination preferred.
  • Bilingual English and Spanish preferred but not required.

Safety & Compliance

  • Comply with all OSHA and company safety policies, procedures, and requirements.
  • Report unsafe conditions or practices to supervision to ensure prompt resolution of potential hazards.
  • Attend scheduled safety training.
  • Actively support the organization’s efforts to meet or exceed safety goals and plans.
  • Recommend improved safety practices.
  • Practice safe work habits and follow general safety procedures such as proper lifting and bending, ergonomics, proper use of equipment, and use of personal protection equipment (PPE).
  • Adhere to and ensure lockout procedures are followed any time equipment is being cleaned or maintained.
  • Responsible for supporting and complying with the company’s Integrated Management System, which aligns with ISO 9001 (Quality), ISO 14001 (Environmental), and ISO 45001 (Health and Safety) standards.
  • Promote a culture of safety, quality, and environmental responsibility by following established IMS procedures.

Work Environment

  • Work performed primarily in a warehouse and manufacturing setting with exposure to varying temperatures and noise levels.
  • May be required to enter warehouse or shop floor areas.
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequent use of computers and standard office equipment.
  • Occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling as required.
  • Must have unrestricted visual and auditory capabilities to maintain a safe work environment.
